Multi Skills at Lincoln

Last Thursday room 2 and 5 went to Lincoln school.

Firstly we walked to the bus. After we were dropped off by the bus we wandered inside to the gym. We saw lots of obstacle races . i was bored sitting on the bench waiting before the activities started.

Then it was time to do an obstacle race. We had a lot of fun. Next we had to change activities. My favourite activity was crazy tag.

After all the games we had made me tired. We kept going to complete all the activities.

Both Room 5 and Room 2 had to go back onto the bus to get back to school.

Cricket Skills

Last week James from canterbury cricket took room 2 for cricket lessons. Firstly we played a tagging game with tennis balls for a warm up. Then James taught us some cricket skills. Batting was one skill he taught. When batting we had to stand side on.

After that James taught us catching skills. To make catching easier , we had to cup our hands and keep our eyes on the ball.
At the end we played a game called “ jack-pot”, which is a catching game.

We thought the lesson was awesome because some people had never played cricket before and learnt new cricket skills.

Making Slime- Chemistry

Here is our first attempt in making slime. Really not what we expected, so tomorrow we will discuss how to improve our experiment.

A positive was that we introduced to a science experiment template-

There many creative ideas in our prediction box predicting what would happen when we mixed our ingredients

from:
  • Change colour
  • bubble and explod
  • smoke would rise
  • Fizz over the plastic bag
Don’t worry our improved procedure in making slime will be publish later.

Room 2 Visits Burnham Kindergarten

Today Room 2 went on a walk to Burnham's Kindergarten. We planned to read our Santa Stories to the little children. Firstly we played with the children who were rather shy until we joined into their painting. We had lunch at the kindergarten.

After Lunch we song both waiata and christmas carols. We enjoyed playing with the kids. Some of us went to the Kindergarten which brought back memories. Even one of the teachers could remember our names.

Mr Thurlow talked about how the trip helped us interact with other people we don't know. He says this skill will help us when we get older to mix with others.
