The Great Kiwi Adventure- Ohau Waterfall Walk( Kaikoura)

As a part of Room 2's Writing programme, the students have been asked to write a diary recount on different New Zealand's famous landmarks and tourist spots.  Here is Libby's diary entry for the Seals at  Ohau Waterfall Walk ( Kaikoura).

Dear Diary,

I have had the best holiday ever!

On Monday hopped onto my bike to go to Kaikoura to see some seals. I stopped off at a stream and followed the path to the stream. I saw some seals in the stream. A seal was climbing a rock but when the seal got to the top of the rock the seal's flippers slipped and the seal bonked it's head

The Great Kiwi Adventure

As a part of Room 2's Writing programme, the students have been asked to write a diary recount on different New Zealand's famous landmarks and tourist spots.  Here is Ivy's diary entry for Mt Cook.

Dear Diary

I am on my way home from Mount Cook. My special is in ice covered and it is frozen. My eyes are really dry from the burning sun. I’m exhausted! My legs are so tired that I just want to go to sleep!

Now let me tell you about my big adventure.
It all started when my great, great Grandad. He was the first man to climb Mt Cook, so I thought I should keep tradition in the family.

This big plane took Ramona and I to the base camp on Mt Cook. I started to climb at 2.ooam in the morning…

My Enemy from the Cat's point of View

Cameron: My enemy is very clever because it makes holes in the floors. It is really smelly and horrifying. He lives in the mat and wakes up at daytime. He runs fast like a jet plane. He has got big sharp claws and he gets rotten food.

Libby: My enemy is a horrifying little beast that steals my food and milk. It lives in a little hole behind the shower. I try to get him when he is asleep in his hole behind the shower. He has rotten cheese on his furry hair. He has black eyes and a wet little nose.

Samara: My enemy is hairy and he has sharp teeth with dirty grey fur. He makes holes in the walls and that makes me furious! He also steals my cheese.

Ivy: My enemy is a disgusting little creature, it runs around our bench like a gust of wind. His fur is moldy with brown strips. Tonight I'm going to get him! He steals all of our clean cheese. The creature is evil, he leaves footsteps in my bowl. I hate the little nasty beast. I’ll have him for dinner tonight!

Ramona: My enemy is creepy and scary and very stinky. He also steals my delicious food. He lives in this hole that I couldn’t fit in. He is a creature that sneaks around at night and in the morning. He looks terribly ugly and his face is disgusting.

The Accident

This is writing activity helps the student to sequence their writing. The comic strip is used as a motivation to write his/story…  This is Gabe's interpretation of the pictures

One afternoon in the city it was very cold and people were shopping.

I saw an old man with a wooden walking stick. He was just about to cross a busy road.

The old man with a wooden stick walking stepped onto the busy road. He didn't look both ways and almost got knocked out !
The old man didn't see the car but the car driver did see the old man.  The car driver slammed on his brakes, and the car almost did a drift.

We are tomorrow finishing off our writing, so stay tuned for the final caption…...

Rescue Postcard from Antarctica-

Dear Mum and Dad,

If you are looking for me I am at Antarctica.

My nose is covered in snow. I am sick of eating raw orca whales for three weeks.

Antarctica is one degree, and that is warm. My hot chocolate is frozen!!

I am tired of walking around the Antarctica for four week and only seeing enormous icebergs.

Please Rescue me, as I have sore toes.

 Love Ethan
