Lava Lamp

This morning room 2 and room 4 created  lava lamps.

At the start Mr Thurlow put oil and water in a glass beaker. We observed that the oil floated on the top of the water.

Then we added blue food colouring. The food colouring changed into tiny bubbles. Next, we added a magic white pill to the mixture. The bubbles began to dance in the mixture.

We thought the lava lamps were going to explode all over the table. )

Room 2 - Use the “ Force”/ Floating Magnet

Like the man in the Black suit said “ Use the Force”.

This afternoon Room 2 were set the challenge of making one magnet float above another magnet. Only Yasmine was able to make a magnet float. She was the only one to master the force!!!

Making Slime- Chemistry

Here is our first attempt in making slime. Really not what we expected, so tomorrow we will discuss how to improve our experiment.

A positive was that we introduced to a science experiment template-

There many creative ideas in our prediction box predicting what would happen when we mixed our ingredients

from:

• Change colour
• bubble and explod
• smoke would rise
• Fizz over the plastic bag

Don’t worry our improved procedure in making slime will be publish later.

Mission Impossible- For the 4th Term

After everyone returns back from holiday our focus will be on experiments that especially focus on Chemistry. I have created you a challenge that you may want to investigate before you return to school. Watch the movie and good luck!!!

Middle Matters's Experiment

Middle Matters( Australia) is a blog buddy classroom of ours. They have been looking at science experiments. They sent us one of their favourite experiments. We decided to say hello and try the experiment out.

We enjoyed squeezing and manipulating the ingredients.
