Room 2's Gumboot throwing competition-


'Room 2's Gumboot Throwing' competition is taking shape. The "kiwi " reading group have been set an activity to run a gumboot throwing competition for room 2. So far they have brainstormed rules and safety issues. They would also like to thank their parents for helping in brainstorming ideas. See ideas below.

RULES

Wait behind the starting line for your turn.

4 people at a time to line up.

One person only at a time to throw.

No stepping out your square while attempting

To throw.

Throw it in front of you and try to keep it

in your lane.

Throw when the person (teacher) tells you.

Under arm and over arm allowed.

No hitting others with gumboots.

The gumboot is measured where it first hits the ground, not where it finishes up.

The longest throw wins after 3 turns.

No crossing the front line.

Return to back of line to await your turn again.

No help from others.

No running onto the course.

No wheeled things like scooters and

Bikes on the course.

No cheating.

SAFETY ISSUES TO CONSIDER

No running onto the course.

No spinning before you throw.

Markers to stay to the side until last gumboot is thrown.

Watchers to stay behind the line.

Make sure noone is behind you or beside you before you throw.

Shoes to be worn, no jandals.

No hitting people with gumboot.

Stay outside the fence if you’re watching.

Throw inside the fence only.
